Liberty Insurance announced their partnership with Tesla in Malaysia.

As part of the partnership, Liberty Insurance has launched its InsureMyTesla Comprehensive Coverage Product which offers specially tailored coverage exclusively for the brand-new Tesla electric vehicles.

Complete with a comprehensive package that has been tailored to meet the specific needs of Tesla owners in the country, this coverage has been designed to give owners greater peace of mind.

Liberty Insurance’s partnership with Tesla extends beyond the Malaysian borders. Within the Asia region, Tesla already has an existing regional partnership with Liberty Insurance in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Thailand. This makes Liberty Insurance Malaysia the latest addition to the regional network as the preferred insurance provider of Tesla.

Here are some key benefits of InsureMyTesla Comprehensive Coverage that Tesla owners can look forward to:

1. Private Electric Charger: Owners will be reimbursed for the actual expenses incurred due to loss of or accidental damage to their private electric charger, up to RM12,000. This coverage is limited to one occurrence per policy year.
2. 24-Hour Towing Assistance for Accidents or Breakdowns: Tesla owners can enjoy worry-free driving with around-the-clock towing service for unlimited mileage and assistance in the event of accidents or breakdowns (excluding cases where the vehicle runs out of battery).
3. 24-Hour Towing Assistance for Flat Battery: In the unfortunate event of a flat battery, Tesla owners are entitled to 24/7 unlimited mileage towing assistance, up to three (3) times per policy year. Liberty Insurance’s Authorised Service Provider will promptly tow the vehicle to the nearest EV charging station for a quick recharge.
4. Key Repair/Replacement: InsureMyTesla Comprehensive Coverage provides reimbursement of up to RM1,000 for the repair or replacement of car keys or transmitter due to theft, robbery, or house break-ins. This benefit is limited to one (1) occurrence per policy year.
5. All Drivers Covered: InsureMyTesla Comprehensive Coverage extends coverage to all authorised drivers of the vehicle, ensuring comprehensive protection for everyone behind the wheel.
6. Warranty for Workmanship Repair: Tesla owners can benefit up to twelve (12) months for workmanship on repairs carried out by Tesla’s panel of trusted workshops.

InsureMyTesla Comprehensive Coverage also offers a range of valuable add-ons, including coverage for windscreen, special perils, legal liability to passengers and legal liability of passengers.

• A Lapsed Policy

  For continuous coverage, it is important to timely renew your car insurance policy. You can set reminders by using a sticker on your car’s windshield or setting alerts on your phone. It’s important to avoid payment lapses as they result in coverage gaps. Without an active insurance policy, you won’t be able to make any claims in case of an incident during that period.

• No Claim Discount (NCD) Eligibility

  When renewing your car insurance policy, don’t forget to maximise your savings with the NCD, as it acts as a rewarding bonus for responsible drivers during policy renewal. In Malaysia, the duration of your claim-free record directly influences the amount of discount you can enjoy. With discounts ranging from 25% to 55% off the annual premium.

• Not Knowing the Claims Process

  When selecting motor insurance, it’s crucial to assess the claims process. Opting for a hassle-free claims experience can alleviate concerns during emergencies. Consider factors such as the claim limit, duration, and requirements like photo or video proof. If you find the payout from your current policy inadequate, it’s an opportune time to enhance coverage by increasing premiums or adding suitable add-ons.

In a bid to raise awareness and remind motorists on the importance of renewing their motor insurance policies on time, Kurnia Insurans and AmAssurance has launched its Stick, Snap and Win Campaign for all Kurnia Insurans and AmAssurance brand policyholders.

For those renewing their Kurnia Insurans and AmAssurance car insurance policies from 15 June until 15 August 2023, they will receive an insurance reminder sticker and are eligible to participate in its Stick, Snap and Win Campaign. To take part, fill up the renewal details for your car insurance and road tax on the Insurance Reminder Sticker and stick it onto the windshield of your car – at the driver’s side.

With the recent unpredictable extreme weather conditions in Malaysia, there is no way of knowing just what drivers might face on the road. More so with the current heatwave that has been causing fiery waves nationwide, from peat fires to forest fires, open burnings and even properties and motor vehicles catching fire.

Extreme weather may be unpredictable and uncontrollable. Hence, staying prepared and protected during the anticipated long-lasting heatwave until August is crucial. This includes knowing how to stay cool and ensuring our motor vehicles remain in good condition. Just like us, extreme heat places additional stress on vehicles, potentially leading to performance issues or breakdowns. Dealing with a breakdown in sweltering heat is far from ideal, especially if you're required to be on the road for most of the day in extreme humidity.

To keep your motor vehicle functioning well and ensure your safety, here are some essential tips to consider.

Identify potential explosives

Keep items like aerosol cans, electronic devices and lighters out of the parked car. Items that are packed in a pressurised can such as hairspray or even pepper spray may explode when the temperature inside the car rises above 50 degrees Celsius. While most may think that this is unlikely to happen, a stationary car under the hot sun for hours on end may record a high internal temperature. Electronic devices like laptops, cameras, power banks or even USB drives may malfunction from heat damage.

Heat kills perishables

Don't leave consumables such as medication, food items or water in the car under the sun for long. High temperatures reduce medication effectiveness and pose potential life-threatening risks if taken. Heat promotes bacterial growth in water bottles, contaminating the water. Plastic bottles act as fire-starters by magnifying sunlight. Remember, wine corks may pop and canned soda can turn rancid or taste off when exposed to heat. Safeguard perishable items from heat-related issues.

Check the vitals of your vehicle

High temperatures can damage your vehicle, affecting both the engine and tyres. Prevent engine overheating by regularly checking and replacing engine oil and coolant levels. As temperatures rise, tyre pressure tends to increase, which can be hazardous on the road and lead to brake issues due to excessive wear. Lastly, inspect batteries for corrosion and dirt build-up to maintain proper chemical balance and optimal performance.

Leave the mess at home

Parents with children should be more wary of what items are brought into the car. While crayons, markers and even pens may seem like a harmless item to bring into the car, heat can in fact deform plastic pens and markers. Its ink will even leak and crayons may melt into a gooey mess due to the heat in the car. This may cause damage to the vehicle’s interior and it is another mess for you to clean up.

Stay cool in the car

One of the most important things to take note of is the vehicle’s air-conditioning unit. If the air-conditioning unit is faulty, it will be a dangerous ride. With temperatures on the rise, it will also cause passengers to become agitated, uncomfortable and could even cause a heat stroke especially if you stay under the sun for too long. So, if your vehicle’s air-conditioning unit is struggling to cool down the vehicle then do get it fixed immediately.
